Dear Fellow Residents;
Given the high level of home break and enters and vehicle entries within our community, we have been chosen by the West Division target team for a Notification of Community Crime (NOCC) program. Police officers paired with a citizen volunteer will go door-to-door to visit the neighbours. This event is scheduled to take place on November 18th from 10:00AM to 1:00PM whereby they will explain to home owners crime prevention and strategies on how to protect themselves. The citizen volunteer will also discuss the Neighbourhood Watch (NW) program and invite the homeowners to sign up to the program, leaving them with an information package about NW including the links to the videos. These are highly successful crime prevention programs and we look forward to their visit to our community.
Also, in the coming weeks Environmental Defence, a non-partisan national charity, will be visiting our community as part of an education campaign to help raise awareness about ways in which residents can participate in fighting Climate Change. Ontario has already launched some new programs to help residents reduce their impact on the climate and save energy. These programs will help make electric cars more affordable, and offer incentives for home energy upgrades, smart thermostats, solar panels and more. The purpose of these visits is solely for education and awareness and we’ve been informed that there is absolutely no solicitation, no selling/fundraising, and there is no political affiliation. Please visit Climate Defender for additional information on their organization.
As your local community association and in cooperation with the local Neighbourhood Watch program, we want to keep you informed of relevant upcoming activities within our community, as we are all cautious of folks knocking at our doors.
Regards,
PWSCA
